The Port of San Francisco recently marked the maiden calls of the Carnival Luminosa and Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady.

Dominic Moreno, the acting maritime director for the port, exchanged plaques with the captains of both ships to commemorate the occasion and honor their arrival.

“The Port of San Francisco continues to contribute to the economic revival of this beautiful city. Let’s go, San Francisco,” the port authority stated.

Kicking off its first homeporting season in the city, the Carnival Luminosa ship arrived at the port for the first time on April 24, 2026.

As part of Carnival’s fifth season cruising out of San Francisco, the 2009-built vessel is now set to offer a series of four- to ten-night cruises departing from its homeport.

The season is highlighted by longer voyages to Alaska and Canada, in addition to shorter cruises to Baja Mexico.

Concluding its summer deployment on the West Coast, the Luminosa is also set to operate a repositioning voyage to Asia out of San Francisco in September.

The trans-Pacific voyage sails to Tokyo over the course of 18 days and includes visits to destinations in Alaska and Japan.

Marking Virgin Voyages’ first season on the West Coast, the Brilliant Lady arrived in San Francisco on May 6, 2026.

The maiden call was part of a repositioning cruise that sailed from Los Angeles to Vancouver ahead of the brand’s debut in Alaska.

The eight-night itinerary also included visits to other destinations in the U.S. and Canada, such as Catalina Island, Astoria and Victoria.

The Brilliant Lady is now scheduled to return to the Port of San Francisco for an additional visit on September 14, 2026.

The call is part of an eight-night cruise from Vancouver to Los Angeles that will also sail to Santa Barbara, San Diego and Catalina Island.
