Celestyal Cruises confirmed that its two ships have now returned to the Mediterranean ahead of welcoming guests back in Greece.

After spending nearly two months stranded in the Persian Gulf due to conflicts in the region, the vessels were able to start repositioning voyages to Europe in late April.

“We are delighted to share that the Celestyal Discovery and the Celestyal Journey have both safely arrived in the Mediterranean following their successful transit through the Strait of Hormuz and the Suez Canal,” the company stated.

“We know their progress has been closely tracked, and we’re pleased to confirm that both vessels will now make their way to Athens, where they will begin their sailings on May 1 and May 2, 2026, respectively,” Celestyal added.

Initially scheduled to start its summer season in the Eastern Mediterranean in late March, the Discovery is set to offer a series of short cruises to Greece and Turkey.

For the first sailing of the season, the 1,360-passenger vessel is set to offer a three-night itinerary to Kusadasi, Mykonos, Patmos, Santorini and Heraklion.

The Celestyal Journey was poised to kick off its summer deployment in the region a couple of weeks later, in early April.

Sailing from Piraeus, the 1993-built ship is set to offer a series of weeklong cruises to destinations in the Aegean and the Adriatic.

The vessel will welcome guests back for a seven-night itinerary that sails to Croatia, Greece and Italy, with planned visits to Dubrovnik, Kotor, Bari, Corfu, Argostoli and Katakolon.

“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our crew, guests and partners for their continued support throughout this journey,” Celestyal added.

In addition to the company’s ships, four other cruise ships were also locked in the Middle East due to the conflicts in the region.

All of them have now started repositioning voyages ahead of welcoming guests back in different parts of the world.
