AmaWaterways has introduced a new culinary experience offering guests hands-on cooking sessions with French grandmothers, according to a press release.

The Cooking with Mamie program is available exclusively on the AmaDante and AmaLyra as part of the Paris & Normandy itinerary.

“With Cooking with Mamie, we are bringing local traditions to life in a very personal way, both on board and ashore, while continuing to offer experiences that feel authentic, intimate and truly memorable,” said Catherine Powell, chief executive officer at AmaWaterways.

Developed in partnership with Atelier des Mamies, the experience includes onboard cooking sessions and an optional shore excursion in Paris.

Onboard, a French grandmother joins the ship in Paris to host cooking sessions for small groups of up to 10 guests.

Together, they prepare classic French desserts such as tarte Tatin and madeleines, the company explains.

These sessions are included as part of the cruise experience.

In Paris, guests participating in pre- or post-cruise land programs can take part in an optional experience called Le Macaron: A Parisian Patisserie Experience, held at Atelier des Mamies’ workshop in Montmartre. There, guests learn to craft macarons alongside a French grandmother.
