Survitec received a Technology Qualification Statement from DNV for Seahaven, its Advanced Evacuation System for passenger ships, the company said in a press release.

The system is designed as an alternative to conventional lifeboats and can evacuate up to 1,060 passengers using two self-propelled inflatable survival craft deployed via vertical escape helical slides.

“This Technology Qualification from DNV marks a significant milestone, demonstrating the system’s proven reliability through rigorous testing and independent evaluation,” said Jonny Whiteside, chief operating officer at Survitec.

“It reinforces an already well-established foundation of validation, complementing assessments conducted by Lloyd’s Register, RINA and Bureau Veritas.”

DNV conducted the Technology Qualification process in accordance with DNV’s Recommended Practice DNV RP A203.

DNV also reviewed full-scale deployment trials, slide integrity evaluations, embarkation simulations at maximum capacity, propulsion performance assessments and maneuverability trials.

Seahaven replaces traditional rigid craft with propelled inflatable survival units while integrating functionalities typically associated with both lifeboats and Marine Evacuation Systems.

With DNV’s Technology Qualification completed, Survitec can progress the Alternative Design and Arrangement process for integration into newbuild and retrofit passenger vessels.
