The MSC Magnifica made its inaugural call at the Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal on March 29, 2026, coinciding with the company’s 20th year of operations in the Chinese market.

The call was marked by a plaque exchange between MSC Cruises executives and Shanghai port authorities.

The ship’s call was featured on the 2026 World Cruise itinerary. The Magnifica docked in Shanghai carrying over 2,500 passengers, and offered guests shore excursions to the Bund, Yu Garden and other city landmarks.

MSC Cruises, which first entered the Chinese market in 2006, highlighted that the anniversary call symbolizes its long-term commitment to the region.

“The arrival of the MSC Magnifica in Shanghai on our 20th anniversary is a powerful statement,” said a company representative. “It connects our historic beginnings here with our present global ambitions, reaffirming China’s pivotal role in our network.”

The event also served as a platform for MSC Cruises to launch its 2028 World Cruise product to trade partners and key clients in Shanghai.

The new 2028 itinerary, according to MSC, is expected to feature extended port stays and exclusive experiences, aiming to attract Chinese travelers seeking extended global voyages.

MSC has deployed multiple ships to the homeport over the years, including the MSC Bellissima.
