Dominica is expanding its port of call experiences for cruise passengers thanks to new shore excursions designed to provide a deeper connection to the island.
According to a statement by Discover Dominica Authority, these experiences are tailored to be enriching and accessible, allowing visitors to make the most of their time in port.
“Dominica continues to stand out in the Caribbean cruise landscape because of the authenticity and depth of the experiences we offer visitors,” said Marva Williams, CEO of Discover Dominica Authority.
“Our approach prioritizes sustainability and community engagement, ensuring travelers can connect with the island’s natural beauty and cultural heritage in meaningful ways. These experiences reflect the spirit of our Nature of Love campaign, which celebrates the connection between visitors, nature, and our local communities.”
Visits to two distilleries are available to cruise passengers as part of the expanded offer: Sea Cliff Eco Cottages & Gin Distillery in Calibishie, which offers a micro-distillery experience, and the Rosalie Bay Distillery, described as the world’s only conservation-focused distillery.
Guests interested in culture and history can join the Roseau History Tour and visit landmarks such as the Old Market, an 1800s Creole townhouse, and the Newtown Armory.
Visitors looking for a more active experience can go on guided e-bike tours led by Dominica Taxi & Tours, designed for small groups.
Looking ahead, the island is working on developing what is expected to be the world’s longest detachable cable car, taking visitors from the Roseau Valley to the Boiling Lake.
This comes as the Caribbean nation is experiencing what Discover Dominica Authority describes as strong growth in cruise tourism, with more than 300,000 passengers visiting the island in the 2025–26 season.
This included 189 cruise calls, 11 of which were inaugural visits.
