Carnival Cruise Line is kicking off its second summer Fun-ternship Program, giving more than 100 high school students ages 17 and older hands-on experience in cruise terminal operations at six U.S. homeports.
The program returns to Baltimore, Tampa, Jacksonville, Norfolk, New York City and Long Beach following a successful debut in summer 2025, the company said in a press release.
“After seeing the enthusiasm, growth and pride of last year’s Fun-terns, we’re excited to bring this opportunity back and continue helping students develop confidence, leadership skills and real-world experience in an industry that plays an important role in their local economy,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
Throughout the eight week program, students will get a behind-the-scenes look at how Carnival’s cruise operations run at the port while building real-world skills and exploring careers in travel and hospitality.
Fun-terns will support embarkation-day operations alongside port services team members, receive hands-on training and mentorship, gain exposure to a range of roles and earn an hourly wage.
At the end of the program, participants will take part in a ship tour and special onboard luncheon celebration with Carnival leaders.
Eligible students living in participating homeport communities are encouraged to apply.
Applications are now open through June 8, with a limited number of positions available.
The eight-week program will run between June and August, with exact dates varying by homeport city.
