Royal Caribbean International’s new Hero of the Seas will introduce new features for its inaugural season in 2027.

According to a recent press release, the fourth Icon-class ship will “raise the bar with more records and iconic ways for families to make lifelong memories.”

The company said that the 250,800-ton ship will offer the most swimming pools in its fleet, including a new one at The Hideaway, an adults-only sun deck.

The Hero of the Seas will also introduce Coconut Cove, a new pool deck located near Royal Caribbean’s signature tropical bar, The Lime and the Coconut.

Adults will take advantage of an expanded Swim & Tonic swim-up bar, while families will enjoy new water features at Splashaway Bay.

One of the largest water parks at sea, Category 6, will introduce two new family raft slides, in addition to the first funnel raft slide at sea and new twists on the mat-racing Storm Chasers duo.

Returning features from other Icon-class vessels include Crown’s Edge, which offers a part skywalk, part zip line experience 154 feet above the sea, and the FlowRider Surf Simulator.

The Hero will also offer the Adrenaline Peak rock-climbing wall, the Lost Dunes mini-golf course and sports courts.

Other highlights of the vessel include the largest number of dining venues in Royal Caribbean’s fleet, with 28 options for guests.

Among the new choices is Orleans Parish Supper Club, a multi-course dining venue with live jazz, craft cocktails, and Cajun and Creole dishes inspired by New Orleans’ French Quarter in the 20th century.

After first debuting on the Utopia of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s train-inspired specialty restaurant is making a return onboard the Hero of the Seas.

The company said that Royal Railway – Hero Station will offer immersive dining experiences that “transport diners by train car to new destinations through a combination of entertainment, food and technology.”

In Surfside, guests of all ages will also enjoy new hands-on cooking classes in a venue to be revealed soon.

The AquaDome Market food hall will return with four new stall concepts, plus desserts at Crème de la Crêpe and freshly squeezed juices at Simply Pressed.

Additional dining venues onboard include fleet favorites like Izumi sushi bar, Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, Chops Grille steakhouse and Hooked Seafood.

The ship also brings back casual choices like Basecamp for burgers and tater tots, El Loco Fresh for Mexican plates, and Sorrento’s for pizza.

Royal Caribbean is also introducing new accommodation choices onboard the vessel, such as the Ultimate Family Treehouse, a three-deck suite inspired by a treehouse.

The stateroom will offer a rooftop terrace, a private whirlpool, a two-deck teen space and two main bedrooms, each with their own bathroom and balcony.

Families can also stay in rooms designed for them at the three-level Ultimate Family Townhouse with direct access to Surfside, Surfside Family Suites, and Family Infinite Ocean View Balconies.

Cruise Industry News, the Hero of the Seas is scheduled to enter service from PortMiami in August 2027.

The 5,610-passenger ship will offer weeklong cruises to destinations in the Western and Eastern Caribbean, as well as the Bahamas.
