The newest Super Ship in Uniworld Boutique River Cruises’ fleet, the S.S. Emilie, sailed its inaugural voyage March 21–30.
Guests on the inaugural voyage experienced the 10-day “Tulips & Windmills” itinerary through the Netherlands and Belgium with stops in cities such as Amsterdam and Antwerp, the cruise line said in a press release.
Highlights included strolling through the tulip fields of Keukenhof Gardens, sailing through Bruges’ canals, as well as tasting Dutch and Belgian specialties.
“Twenty-two years ago, I stepped onboard my very first river cruise ship with Uniworld, and I’ve felt incredibly fortunate every day since. To now serve as Godmother of the S.S. Emilie is truly one of the greatest honors of my life,” said Higgins.
“This ship is not only incredibly beautiful, but it also represents a major step forward in our sustainability journey with the most modern and efficient technology in our fleet – something that is such an important part of who we are. What makes it even more special is the team on board, whose passion and dedication truly bring the experience to life. I’m so proud to be part of this moment.”
A christening ceremony for the ship was led by President & CEO Ellen Bettridge, who broke the traditional champagne bottle alongside the brand’s sustainability officer and S.S. Emilie godmother, Julie Higgins.
2026 itineraries onboard the S.S. Emilie include:
On top of this, there are three Mystery Cruises, where the itinerary remains a surprise until sailing.
The cruise line will also host its Golden Anniversary President’s Cruise onboard the new vessel, departing October 23, 2026.
Named after Austrian painter Gustav Klimt’s life partner Emilie Floge and inspired by the artist’s work, the S.S. Emilie is the brand’s first newbuild since 2020.
