The Brilliant Lady recently completed its inaugural transit through the Panama Canal, marking the first time a Virgin Voyages vessel has sailed through the waterway.

In a social media update, the Panama Canal Authority celebrated the milestone, noting that the transit was one of the highlights of its 2025-26 season.

The authority also stated that the arrival of Virgin Voyages reflects the growing interest of the cruise industry in including the Panama Canal in its itineraries.

A ceremony was held onboard to mark the first transit, with ship officers and local authorities on hand to exchange commemorative plaques.

In addition to the Virgin ship, four other ships are set to complete their inaugural transits of the Panama Canal in 2025-26.

The lineup includes the Disney Adventure, which became the largest vessel to sail through the channel earlier this year.

After entering service in late 2025, the Brilliant Lady is currently operating a repositioning voyage to the West Coast.

The 16-night cruise departed from PortMiami on March 31, 2026, and included visits to Panama and Colombia before transiting the Panama Canal.

Before ending the voyage in Los Angeles, the 110,000-ton vessel is also scheduled to sail to destinations in Costa Rica, Guatemala and Mexico.

Marking Virgin’s debut in the region, the 2,770-passenger ship will offer a series of cruises to California and the Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles between April and May.

The sailings are highlighted by visits to Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta and Ensenada, in addition to Santa Barbara and San Diego.

The vessel is then set to sail further north ahead of the company’s first summer season in Alaska and Canada.

From May to September, the Brilliant Lady is set to offer 17 voyages to 12 destinations in the region, including Ketchikan, Sitka, Prince Rupert and more.

In early November, the vessel returns to the Panama Canal for a second transit ahead of a winter season in the Caribbean.
