MXP has launched an AI-powered tour audio guide that transmits tour guide voices directly to guests’ smartphones, eliminating the need for rented audio hardware, the company said in a press release.

The solution includes real-time AI translation allowing guests to experience tours in their preferred language.

Guests do not require mobile internet and do not need to install a separate app on their phones.

“With AI-powered Tour Guide Voice Translation, MXP expands the MXP Enterprise Platform with an innovative capability designed specifically for shore excursion operations,” the company said. “The solution demonstrates how artificial intelligence enhances guest experiences while simplifying excursion management and enabling cruise lines to scale multilingual tours more efficiently.”

Tour guides manage participants through the MXP tour guide app where they can see participants, their preferred language, special requests and meal requirements.

Guests can post text messages and questions to the tour guide’s device.

The solution eliminates the need for cruise lines to pay for separate guides for small groups of guests speaking different languages.

The AI-powered translation allows multilingual communication enabling international groups to join standard tours, potentially increasing excursion revenue.

The system collects instant feedback on tours and guides through ratings.
