Windstar Cruises recently cancelled a trans-Atlantic crossing that was set to take place onboard the Wind Surf starting on December 5, 2026.

In a statement sent to booked guests, the company explained that the cancellation was necessary due to an extension of the vessel’s scheduled drydock.

Windstar noted that the refit was enlarged to accommodate additional work, which would make it unable to operate the crossing to its standards.

“We understand how disappointing and disruptive this news may be, especially given the time, care and anticipation that go into planning a journey like this,” the company said.

“Please know that this decision was made thoughtfully and with your experience in mind,” Windstar added.

Sailing from Lisbon in Portugal, the Wind Surf was set to offer a 14-night repositioning cruise to Philipsburg in St. Maarten.

In addition to 12 days at sea, the voyage’s planned itinerary also included a visit to St. John’s in Antigua.

“We recognize that this change may also impact other travel arrangements you’ve made, and we truly regret the inconvenience this may cause,” Windstar added.

The company is offering guests the option to transfer their bookings to other trans-Atlantic crossings in a similar timeframe, including 14- and 15-night choices onboard the Wind Star and the Star Legend in November.

In this case, Windstar will protect the original daily cruise fare for the same stateroom category while also honoring all promotional amenities from the initial reservation.

The company is also offering $200 per guest in non-refundable shipboard credit as a “thank you for rebooking.”

Passengers will also receive what the company called a 25 percent “non-refundable goodwill future cruise credit” based on funds in Windstar’s files.

Guests who decide not to rebook will receive a full refund of the monies paid for the cancelled reservation, the company added.
