Norwegian Cruise Line is reportedly dropping a planned change that would see beverage packages no longer being honored at Great Stirrup Cay.
The move was initially set to take effect on March 1, 2026, but had already been delayed by the company.
Now, travel agents are reporting that Norwegian will continue to honor all of its beverage packages at the private destination in the Bahamas indefinitely.
As a result, guests who purchase the company’s Free at Sea and Free at Sea Plus packages will continue to be able to order alcoholic beverages on the island at no extra cost.
The change was originally announced in October 2025, in what the company called a “transformation of the experience” at the cruise port.
At the time, Norwegian said that the destination would still offer complimentary drink choices, including water, iced tea and juices, for all guests.
However, other beverages, including alcoholic drinks, would no longer be included for those with the Free at Sea package.
The company initially said that it was developing a new beverage package exclusively for the island, noting that additional details would be revealed at a later date.
In December, Norwegian announced that passengers would need to upgrade their packages to the recently relaunched Free at Sea Plus option in order to have drinks included at Great Stirrup Cay.
Travel agents also reported that Norwegian will temporarily close the destination’s new two-ship pier, which partially opened in late 2025.
The dock will reportedly be unavailable from April to July 2026, while the cruise line works to complete its construction.
As a result, ships visiting the destination during this timeframe will have to anchor off and use tender boats to transport passengers.
Great Stirrup Cay is currently undergoing a major enhancement project that will see the introduction of new features, including a water park and a heated swimming pool.
