American Cruise Lines’ new riverboat, the American Encore, passed sea trials last week and is sailing to the Columbia and Snake Rivers in the Pacific Northwest.
The riverboat is currently cruising along the coastal waterways of the Eastern Seaboard and will next sail through the Caribbean Sea, according to a statement.
Helmed by Captain Andrew Gillilan, the ship is expected to transit the Panama Canal at the end of March.
Afterwards, it will make its way northward up the Pacific Coast until it reaches the mouth of the Columbia near Astoria, Washington, where the river flows inland from the Pacific Ocean.
The company described the latest addition to its fleet as the finest new riverboat in the world, claiming that it has more space-per-passenger than any other riverboat globally.
The ship’s inaugural season of sold-out cruises along the Columbia and Snake Rivers begins on May 5 and concludes in mid-November.
Its sisterships, the American Anthem and American Grace, are slated to begin cruise operations along the two rivers in 2027 and 2028.
