Nicko Cruises presented the news for its 2027-28 season during the ITB Berlin (Internationale Tourismus-Börse) in Germany.
According to a press release, the company will offer new river cruising itineraries, in addition to a fifth world cruise onboard the Vasco da Gama.
The 172-day itinerary is set to start in Lisbon on November 4, 2027, and will include visits to 88 destinations in 48 countries.
The cruise sails from Europe via the Azores, the Canary Islands and Cape Verde, before crossing the Atlantic to the Lesser Antilles as well as Jamaica, the Cayman Islands and the Dominican Republic.
From there, the journey continues along the coasts of Central America, with planned visits to Belize, Honduras, Costa Rica and Guatemala.
The Vasco da Gama is then set to visit Mexico and cross the Pacific to the South Seas, visiting French Polynesia, the Cook Islands, Tonga, Fiji and New Caledonia.
Before returning to Europe, the itinerary also features destinations in Australia, with stops in Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns and Darwin.
The voyage continues in Southeast Asia, visiting Indonesia as well as Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
Other ports set to be visited ahead of the ship’s return to Lisbon in late April 2028 include the Maldives, Seychelles, Zanzibar, Madagascar, Mauritius and Réunion.
As an alternative to the 172-day itinerary, passengers can also book the “small world cruise,” which sails between Panama City and Lisbon in 125 days.
Nicko said that nine individual segments of the world cruise can be booked and combined to create long-haul trips.
Following the world cruise, the Vasco da Gama will sail to destinations in Western and Northern Europe, the Baltic Sea and the Mediterranean in 2028.
Guido Laukamp, Managing Director of Nicko Cruises, presented the news during a press conference, which also introduced a new river ship for the company’s Rhine fleet.
With a design similar to previous newbuilds, namely the Nicko Spirit and the Nicko Vision, the 135-meter-long vessel will debut in 2028.
