Ponant Explorations’ “Antarctica: Ocean (Re)Imagined” voyage in 2027 aboard the Le Lyrial will feature ocean scientists from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), an independent ocean science organization.
Departing from Ushuaia, Argentina, on December 7, 2027, the trip comprises a 10-night immersive expedition and a pre-night stay in Buenos Aires on December 6, 2027, for a total of 11 nights.
“At Ponant Explorations Group, we treat educational travel as more than a tourism niche—it’s a mindset that shapes who we are and how we see the world,” said Samuel Chamberlain, CEO, Ponant Explorations Group Americas.
“With more than 35 years of expertise in responsible exploration, we’re able to provide our guests with rare, authentic experiences like the chance to travel and learn alongside scientists at the forefront of ocean discovery.”
The voyage will showcase daily discussions led by experts in marine biology, glaciology, climate research, and other fields whose names Ponant says will be announced soon.
It also will feature guided excursions and Zodiac landings enabling guests to see icebergs, penguin colonies, and Antarctic landscapes.
Throughout the expedition, guests will also learn about fieldwork methodologies, data collection, and the global impact of polar science.
“Antarctica is one of the most important and most vulnerable regions on Earth,” noted Sam Harp, VP for advancement & CMO, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
“By partnering with Ponant Explorations, we have a unique opportunity to bring people directly into the heart of polar science, where discovery is happening in real time.”
The voyage is part of Ponant Explorations Group and WHOI’s three-year partnership designed to advance ocean research and education.
Fares start at $15,060 for a Superior Stateroom, based on double occupancy.
The voyage also includes the pre-voyage stay in Buenos Aires on December 6; group charter flight; and roundtrip airport transfers on embarkation and disembarkation days.
