Foreign Affairs Expert Nina Khrushcheva and retired U.S. Naval Officer Admiral James Stavridis are set to join Ponant Explorations’ “A World Affairs Voyage” as expert speakers.
The 10-night journey from Copenhagen to London in August 2026 onboard the Le Champlain, which is tailored to English-speaking guests, is set to provide an inside look at Europe’s evolving geopolitical landscape.
“As a leader in the educational travel space, Ponant Explorations Group creates rare experiences that teach, inspire, and are brought to life by our carefully selected expert speakers and partnerships,” said Samuel Chamberlain, CEO, Ponant Explorations Group Americas.
“We’re honored to welcome two distinguished guests, Nina Khrushcheva and Admiral James Stavridis, on board this unique voyage that will explore the forces shaping European and global affairs through deeply knowledgeable and humbling lenses.”
The company said the speakers will provide context and analysis on issues facing the region today through discussions and lectures as the ship passes through the Kiel Canal linking the Baltic Sea to the North Sea and ends docked near the London Bridge.
The voyage will also include visits to organizations of international cooperation and military history, including the International Court of Justice in The Hague and the European Parliament and the Royal Military Museum in Brussels.
Also featured in the programming are World War II sites such as the Dutch Resistance Museum, the Atlantic Wall, and Dunkirk.
Khrushcheva is a professor of International Affairs at The New School and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations whose articles have appeared in prominent international publications.
The great-granddaughter of Nikita Khrushchev, she is also the author of several books in English and Russian.
A retired four-star U.S. Naval Officer, Admiral Stavridis is Partner and Vice Chair, Global Affairs of The Carlyle Group, who was the 12th Dean of The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
He led the NATO Alliance in global operations from 2009 to 2013 as Supreme Allied Commander with responsibility for Afghanistan, Libya, the Balkans, Syria, counter piracy, and cyber security.
He also served as Commander of U.S. Southern Command, with responsibility for all military operations in Latin America from 2006-2009.
