Holland America Line has presented a new 26-day sailing aboard Nieuw Amsterdam departing from Vancouver on Oct. 7, 2027, and heading to San Antonio (Santiago), Chile. The cruise is part of the line’s Legendary Voyages program.
Named the “Inca Coast: Mexico & Latin America Legendary Voyage,” the cruise follows the Pacific shoreline from North America into South America, combining marquee city calls and beach days with deep-dive opportunities into ancient civilizations, rainforests and volcanic landscapes.
“We know our guests want experiences that allow them to connect deeply with the places they visit—through history, culture and wildlife,” said Paul Grigsby, Holland America Line’s vice president of itinerary planning and deployment.
“The Inca Coast is one of the most captivating regions on the planet, and we shaped this itinerary to offer guests a meaningful way to explore it.”
The cruise starts by sailing the California coast with calls in San Francisco and San Diego before heading south to Cabo San Lucas and Huatulco in Mexico.
Next is a stop at Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala, which is a gateway to Mayan ruins, colonial Antigua and the Pacaya volcano.
After calls at Puntarenas (Puerto Caldera), Costa Rica, the ship crosses the Equator on its way to Ecuador.
This is followed by an overnight in Manta (Quito), Ecuador, with opportunities for land trips to the Amazon, Galápagos and the Ecuadorian rainforest.
The cruise then continues south along Peru’s coast with an overnight in Callao (Lima) and calls at Salaverry (Trujillo) and General San Martín (Pisco).
After stargazing off the coast of Arica, the cruise ends in the port of Coquimbo (La Serena), Chile.
Additionally, while onboard, guests can choose enrichment programs, regional entertainment, and dining options that are said to reflect the flavors of the coast.
