Royal Caribbean announced the expansion of its Artist Discovery Program which will now include the Legend of the Seas, opening submissions to emerging artists across the Caribbean and Central America.
Artists can submit work through March 1, with selected artists commissioned to paint large-scale murals in six locations on the ship, according to the company.
“Our Artist Discovery Program is a testament to how Royal Caribbean creates culturally immersive experiences for guests, connecting vacationers of all ages with the destinations we visit around the world,” said Michael Bayley, president and chief executive officer of Royal Caribbean.
“We’re excited to expand the program to include emerging artists from Central America alongside the Caribbean and increase the number of locations for large-scale murals on the Legend from four to six, creating more opportunities for artists to highlight the diverse destinations we visit through their work.”
Selected artists will be commissioned to paint murals in six locations aboard the ship including the Royal Promenade neighborhood, the embarkation area, the Suite Sundeck Lobby and Suite Sundeck.
Artists must submit five samples of original conceptual work, a brief artist statement and a resume.
The program previously featured artists on the Icon of the Seas, the Star of the Seas and at Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in Nassau, the Bahamas.
The Legend of the Seas will offer seven-night Western Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona, Spain, and Rome, Italy, in 2026. In November 2026, the ship will debut in Fort Lauderdale with six-night Western Caribbean and eight-night Southern Caribbean cruises.
