Guests currently onboard the Freedom of the Seas were informed that they won’t be able to visit Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay due to the impact of last weekend’s winter storm.
According to a statement, the ship replaced its visit to the destination scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, with a stop in Cabo Rojo in the Dominican Republic.
“Due to this past weekend’s winter storm, which included strong winds and heavy seas at Perfect Day at CocoCay, Bahamas, catwalks fell into the sea on the eastern side of the pier,” Royal Caribbean explained.
“Unfortunately, divers have not been able to locate all of them, which prevents us from safely docking the ship at Perfect Day at CocoCay,” the company continued.
“After exploring and exhausting all other alternatives, we’ll skip our visit,” the statement added, noting that the visit to Cabo Rojo was set for Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026.
“We’re terribly sorry for the unexpected change. Feel free to use this information for insurance purposes,” Royal Caribbean added.
Sailing from Miami, the Freedom of the Seas was originally scheduled to offer a five-night cruise to the Bahamas.
In addition to Perfect Day at CocoCay, the itinerary also included a visit to Nassau, as well as a full day of cruising.
According to reports from guests onboard, the Celebrity Reflection also cancelled a visit to the private island destination due to the situation.
The Celebrity Cruises vessel was scheduled to visit Perfect Day at CocoCay on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026.
AIS data shows that the 3,030-passenger ship was diverted to Grand Bahama Island’s Freeport, where it docked this morning.
Offering a four-night cruise to the Bahamas, the Celebrity Reflection sailed from Fort Lauderdale on Feb. 2, 2026.
In addition to Perfect Day at CocoCay, the original ship’s itinerary included a visit to the Port of Nassau, which will be carried out as scheduled.
