Ambassador Cruise Line made a second adjustment to the current itinerary of the Ambition due to adverse weather in the North Atlantic.

According to a statement shared on social media, the 1999-built ship had to depart earlier on Friday Jan. 30 from Gibraltar to avoid strong winds and a cold front.

“Unfortunately, the current weather in Gibraltar is forecast to increase up to 50 mph by late afternoon, and this would make Ambition’s departure very difficult and risk damage,” Ambassador explained.

As a result, the vessel shortened its visit to the destination, setting sail from the port earlier than planned.

“There is also a major storm front approaching from the Atlantic which will affect Ambition’s voyage back to Tilbury,” the company added.

“We are studying the forecasts very carefully and will take all possible measures to make the return as comfortable as we can. Guest safety and comfort are always our first priority. We are very sorry for any inconvenience and disappointment that this may cause,” Ambassador said.

Currently offering a 23-night cruise to the Canary Islands, the Ambition departed from Tilbury on January 12, 2026.

The sailing originally included visits to 14 destinations in Spain, Morocco and Spain, including an overnight call in Funchal’s Madeira Island.

Ambassador previously changed the itinerary due to adverse weather conditions in the North Atlantic, which saw waves exceeding five meters.

As a result, the ship’s visit to Lisbon had to be extended by over one day while the call to Funchal had to be adjusted and shortened.

Before arriving back in Tilbury on Feb. 4, 2026, the itinerary also includes a visit to the Spanish port of Vigo.

According to AIS data, despite the cold storm, the vessel is set to arrive at the destination as scheduled on Feb. 1, 2026.
