MSC Cruises today released photos of the MSC Magnifica transiting through the Panama Canal as part of her 2026 World Cruise.

According to a press release, the ship’s passage serves as a major highlight of the itinerary, which departed from Europe earlier this year.

MSC said that the transit offers guests a rare opportunity to experience this route connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

“Beyond its engineering significance, the Canal offers breathtaking views of lush rainforests and vibrant wildlife,” the company stated, calling the journey a “once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

MSC also highlighted the extensive refurbishment completed onboard the MSC Magnifica ahead of its current world cruise.

Before setting sail from Italy, France and Spain, the ship entered drydock in Malta to undergo a series of updates and enhancements.

The upgraded vessel now offers a new MSC Yacht Club, the line’s exclusive ‘ship within a ship’ concept, as well as a modernized MSC Aurea Spa, a new gym and two specialty restaurants, Butcher’s Cut and Kaito Sushi Bar.

The MSC Magnifica has already travelled from the Mediterranean across the Atlantic to the Caribbean and Central America, where it completed its Panama Canal transit.

Now sailing along the Pacific coast, the 2010-built vessel will continue its 131-night global journey through North America before crossing the Pacific to Polynesia, New Zealand and Australia.

The voyage will then span key regions of Asia, followed by the Indian Ocean islands and Southern Africa, before returning to Europe.

MSC said that guests wishing to sail through the Panama Canal can embark on upcoming sailings onboard the MSC Poesia in 2026 and 2027, as well as the 2027 World Cruise onboard the MSC Magnifica.

The transits onboard the first are part of repositioning journeys between Miami and Seattle, where the vessel will be based for MSC’s first season in Alaska.
