Royal Caribbean International recently confirmed further changes for the upcoming cruises from China onboard the Spectrum of the Seas.

Having removed destinations in Japan from part of the vessel’s sailings in December, the company adjusted additional itineraries earlier this month.

The affected cruises are scheduled to depart from the port of Shanghai between May 2026 and April 2027.

Royal Caribbean removed visits to a range of Japanese ports, such as Okinawa, Fukuoka, Nagasaki and Kagoshima.

The itineraries now feature stops in destinations in South Korea, including Jeju, Busan, Incheon and Yeosu.

“We’re excited to bring you this refreshed experience and appreciate your understanding, as itinerary planning is an ongoing process that requires cruises to have a certain level of flexibility, modifications can occur at any time,” Royal Caribbean said.

“We’re continually exploring new opportunities to provide guests with more destination choices and experiences around the world,” the company added.

Royal Caribbean stated that pre-paid shore excursions booked for the ports that are no longer being visited will be automatically refunded.

The company’s shore excursions team will also reschedule any pre-paid shore excursions affected by the changes. Any tours that can’t be reaccommodated will be cancelled and refunded to their original form of payment.

“While some will be happy about this change, we know others will not, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience this may cause,” Royal Caribbean added.

The company encouraged guests to contact its team or their travel agents in case they no longer wish to join the cruises.

Of note, some of Spectrum’s itineraries are still scheduled to sail to destinations in Japan, including the August 8, 2026, departure.

Sailing roundtrip from Shanghai, the eight-night cruise features an overnight visit to Osaka, in addition to calls to Nagoya, Kobe and Tokyo.
