The keel has been laid for Oceania’s new Sonata, set to debut in summer 2027.

A ceremony was held at Fincantieri for the occasion, with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings CEO Harry Sommer joined by Oceania’s Chief Luxury Officer Jason Montague, as well as others.

The newbuild is part of a series of new ships for Oceania, with the Sonata followed by the Arietta in 2029 and unnamed newbuilds in 2032 and 2025. All four ships are 1,390 guests.

“This marks the beginning of a new chapter, one that is luxury orchestrated and luxury elevated, where design, craftsmanship, and experience come together in extraordinary harmony.

Extravagant yet thoughtful. Sprawling yet intimate. Opulent, stunning, and deeply personal. Sonata is being created with a singular purpose: more than being cared for, you’re cared about,” Oceania said in a statement.
