The Silver Muse recently extended its visit to the port of Valletta to avoid bad weather in Southern Europe.

Offering a ten-night cruise to the Western Mediterranean, the Silversea vessel spent two extra days at the Maltese port before departing on Jan. 21, 2026.

As a result, the ship had to cancel scheduled visits to Tunis in Tunisia and Cagliari on Italy’s Sardinia island.

Guests onboard were informed of the changes by the ship’s captain Kosta Doroshenko.

“Our Chief Meteorologist, Craig Seltzer, and I have been closely tracking the strong low-pressure system affecting the region that is expected to bring strong winds and high seas along our planned route to Tunisia,” he explained.

“As always, our safety and comfort guide every decision we make regarding the itinerary,” Doroshenko continued.

“With the forecast showing no improvement, we’ll be extending our stay in Valletta … and setting a modified route toward Valencia to ensure the smoothest and safest sailing.”

While visits to Tunis and Cagliari were cancelled, the Silver Muse is expected to arrive in Valencia as scheduled on January 23, 2026.

“We fully recognize the impact these weather-related changes have on your journey. To thank you for your understanding, you’ll receive a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) valued at the prorated two-days’ cruise fare paid,” Doroshenko added.

According to the statement, the FCC will be sent to guests via email within 20 business days from final disembarkation. The credit can be used for new bookings made within the next 24 months.

“Thank you once again for the patience and good spirit you have shown as we navigate these adjustments due to changing weather,” he added.

After undergoing a drydock in late 2025, the Silver Muse is currently offering a winter season in the Mediterranean.

The ship’s current sailing departed from Civitavecchia on January 12, 2026, and originally included visits to destinations in Italy, Malta, Tunisia and Spain.
