GeneSYS Informatica, the digital arm of Fratelli Cosulich Group, has acquired a 51 percent stake in Navimeteo, a company specializing in weather and oceanographic services for maritime operations.
The acquisition marks a significant expansion of the group’s digital portfolio, and the company reports that it will strengthen synergies between technological innovation and maritime expertise.
Navimeteo, based in Chiavari, Italy, provides specialized weather routing, forecasting, and risk management services for commercial shipping, cruise lines, yachting, ports, and marine infrastructure. The company was founded in 1991.
“Navimeteo has been, from the very beginning, a meeting of shared vision. This acquisition comes in a particularly meaningful year for us – the 30th anniversary of our IT journey – and there could not be a more fitting milestone to celebrate it,” said Matteo Cosulich, vice president and head of digital activities of Fratelli Cosulich Group.
“We believe in what Gianfranco Meggiorin and Fabio Sola built, a Navimeteo’s unique expertise that will allow us to build extraordinary synergies with what GeneSYS has offered for three decades: tailor-made solutions at the service of shipping and logistics.”
Cosulich said the group sees potential in strengthening collaboration between Navimeteo and Argenton & Soci, as well as with yachting and ship management activities across the group.
“2026 will mark the beginning of a new course for Navimeteo, following a long and extraordinary 25-year journey,” said Gianfranco Meggiorin, founder and managing director of Navimeteo.
“Navimeteo’s true asset – and its greatest strength – lies in its people: professionals who dedicate themselves every day to the meteorological safety of navigation, operating 24/7 across the Mediterranean and the world’s oceans.”
Meggiorin said he is enthusiastic about joining forces with GeneSYS and the Cosulich Group, which opens new horizons for the company.
Navimeteo also delivers certified training programs for captains, officers, and maritime operators aimed at enhancing operational safety and environmental awareness.
