The AIDAbella recently arrived at the Chantier Naval de Marseille in France for its AIDA Evolution refurbishment.
The 2008-built ship arrived at the shipyard on January 21, 2026 following a repositioning cruise from the Canary Islands.
The 68,500-ton vessel will now spend over seven weeks in drydock to undergo a series of updates and enhancements.
New public areas and venues will be added, while all staterooms will be refreshed with new colors and updated features.
According to AIDA, the cabins will debut more modern color schemes, as well as USB ports, lights, and more.
The project also includes the addition of new stern suites in addition to expanded food and beverage choices, such as the Yacht Club.
The new nautical-themed restaurant will complement the Lanai Bar, a new outdoor lounge that will be located on the ship’s stern.
Other new venues coming to the ship include the French Kiss Bar & Bistro, East Fusion and Tapas & Bar.
The 2,030-passenger vessel is also debuting a modernized Theatrium, which will offer state-of-the-art lighting and sound technology, as well as additional seating areas.
A new family-friendly Fun Park with a climbing tower is being added for families, as well as a newly designed Kids Club and a Game Center.
Other areas set to undergo updates include the spa and the sky deck, in addition to crew areas and the suite lounge.
After undergoing its refurbishment, the AIDAbella is set to welcome guests back in Palma de Mallorca on March 11, 2026.
The vessel will become the third ship to undergo a refit as part of the modernization project, which also included the AIDAdiva and the AIDAluna.
AIDA is now getting ready to promote similar refits onboard four additional Sphinx-class ships, with the AIDAsol, the AIDAstella, the AIDAblu and the AIDAmar set to be included the program by 2028.
