The Zaandam recently sailed from San Diego for Holland America Line’s “Grand Australia and New Zealand” voyage.
Sailing roundtrip from California, the 93-night cruise features visits to 42 destinations across the South Pacific.
According to Holland America, the itinerary is highlighted by a rare visit to Bora Bora in French Polynesia, as well as a series of overnight calls.
The Zaandam will spend at least one night docked in five ports, including Honolulu, Fremantle, Sydney, Auckland and Papeete.
After departing from California on Jan. 4, 2026, the itinerary included visits to destinations in Hawaii before arriving in American Samoa and Fiji.
The cruise is now set to make visits to ports in New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.
In early February, the Zaandam arrives in Australia for stops in 12 destinations, including Darwin, Hobart, Adelaide and Kangaroo Island.
The 2000-built ship is then set to visit New Zealand, Tonga and French Polynesia before returning to San Diego in early April.
Holland America celebrated the ship’s departure with a dual send-off event that also marked the start of its 2026 “Grand World Cruise.”
According to the company, the cruises are also highlighted by special onboard programming that includes Great Gatsby Night, a Masquerade Ball, a Casino Royale party and a Glamp Out on the Lido Deck.
The two grand voyages will also meet up on March 7 in Sydney, Australia, where Chocolatier Jacques Torres will host a Chocolate Teatime.
After completing its grand voyage, the Zaandam offers a series of cruises to the Mexican Riviera and Baja before kicking off a summer deployment in Alaska.
Built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, the vessel completed 25 years of service for Holland America in early 2025.
Extensively refurbished over the years, the 1,440-guest ship also visited the Grand Bahama Shipyard last year to undergo maintenance and updates.
