Holland America Line’s Westerdam has completed a series of updates as part of a drydock in Southeast Asia.
The 2004-built ship recently concluded a two-week drydock project in Singapore that began in early January.
In addition to routine maintenance and technical work, the 82,348-ton vessel saw updates to its public areas along with a slight increase in capacity.
According to updated deck plans, the Westerdam added six new staterooms on Rotterdam Deck.
The additional ocean-view cabins were created in a former technical area located on the vessel’s bow. In a similar modification, five additional staterooms were also added to technical spaces on Deck 1.
The 11 new cabins increased the ship’s capacity by 22 lower berths.
Other enhancements include the addition of a Merabella Fine Jewelry store adjacent to the existing Effy store on Promenade Deck.
The vessel also received a larger casino, with the gaming area expanded into the former Gallery Bar on Deck 2.
The Westerdam welcomed guests back on January 18, 2025, kicking off the second phase of its winter season in Southeast Asia.
For its first post-drydock voyage, the ship is embarking on a 14-night cruise sailing between Singapore and Hong Kong.
The open-jaw itinerary features calls in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, including Ko Samui, Laem Chabang, Ho Chi Minh City and Halong Bay.
Before repositioning to Alaska for the summer season, the Westerdam is also scheduled to offer spring cruises in Japan and the Far East.
One of four ships in Holland America Line’s Vista-class series, the 1,900-guest vessel was built at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Italy and marked 20 years of service in 2024.
