Emerald Cruises & Tours announced a significant milestone in the construction of the Emerald Kaia with the completion of the ship’s sea trials.
According to a press release, the new ship successfully completed the trials in Halong Bay, Vietnam, bringing it closer to completion.
The company added that the trials “reflect Scenic Group’s commitment to quality, innovation and delivering unique luxury guest experiences across its growing fleet.”
The Emerald Kaia’s first trials in open water have confirmed performance, maneuverability and overall seaworthiness, Emerald said.
The new yacht is scheduled to enter service in early April 2026, kicking off an 11-night itinerary that sails from Cyprus to Greece.
“This milestone is a testament to the dedication of everyone involved in the project,” said James Griffiths, Scenic Group’s general manager of ocean operations.
“Operationally, this sea trial has delivered excellent results and allows us to proceed with the final phase of commissioning with confidence. We look forward to welcoming guests onboard the Emerald Kaia in April 2026,” he added.
With sea trials now complete, the next milestones for the Emerald Kaia include final fittings and delivery.
The new ship will join the Emerald Azzurra and the Emerald Sakara in the Emerald Yacht Cruises fleet, which will also include the Emerald Raiya in 2027 and the Emerald Xara in 2028.
According to Emerald, the Kaia was designed for a “relaxed luxury yacht experience” and welcomes up to 128 guests.
The company said that the ship’s design offers expansive lounges, terraces and decks, as well as connecting suites, generously sized suites and a series of amenities.
Highlights include a new observation sun deck with an additional spa pool, as well as an indoor/outdoor gym and a marina platform.
The ship will also debut new dining venues, including a new design for the signature restaurant La Cucina and the new Night Market Grill.
