River Advice has announced the appointment of Michaela Julian as Executive Vice President (EVP) Operations.

She joined the group’s headquarters in Basel in January and previously held the position of Director of Nautical Planning at Viking according to a statement.

“The addition of Michaela Julian to our operations team is a logical step toward ensuring growth, quality, and efficiency in our vessel operations for our clients,” said Alexander Nothegger, CEO of River Advice.

The company said she brings several years of experience in nautical river cruise operations and in-depth expertise in ESG strategies, environmental management, and sustainable nautical processes to the leading white-label passenger ship management group in Basel.

Her career also includes international management positions in the hospitality industry, including as Managing Director of a boutique hotel in South Africa and senior roles in Asia and the Middle East. She holds an Executive Master’s degree in Environmental Governance and Policy Making and is recognized in the industry as an expert in the development of sustainable strategies, has proven experience in implementing ISO-compliant processes, and promoting responsible crew standards in the river cruise industry.

Julian will assume operational responsibility for selected clients and will further enhance efficiency and service quality. Her appointment underscores River Advice’s commitment to excellence and innovation in sustainable ship operations.

Starting immediately, Julian will take over the operational management of River Advice together with Arthur Bont.
