The Marella Explorer 2 is currently undergoing a scheduled drydock at the Navantia shipyard in Cádiz, Spain.
After completing a series of cruises in the Canaries, the Marella Cruises ship arrived at the facility on Jan. 10, 2026.
As part of its nearly month-long drydock, the Explorer 2 is set to undergo scheduled maintenance and overall upkeep, as well as statutory inspections and class work.
The 70,000-ton vessel is set to welcome guests back on February 5, 2026, for a repositioning voyage back to the Canary Islands.
Sailing from Málaga to Las Palmas, the four-night cruise includes visits to destinations in Spain and the United Kingdom, such as Gibraltar and Arrecife.
Upon returning to Gran Canaria, the vessel kicks off a series of seven-night cruises to the Canary Islands and Madeira.
The weeklong cruises follow Marella’s “Canarian Flavours” and “Atlantic Islands” itineraries, which feature visits to Puerto del Rosario, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and San Sebastián de La Gomera.
Other ports of call set to be visited include Arrecife de Lanzarote, as well as Funchal in Portugal’s Madeira Islands.
The Marella Explorer 2 is then set to return to the Western Mediterranean in late March for a spring season sailing from Palma de Mallorca.
In early May, the ship arrives in the Eastern Mediterranean for summer cruises departing from Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Originally built for Celebrity Cruises in the 1990s, the 1,750-guest vessel joined Marella Cruises’ fleet in 2019.
At the time, the ship underwent a complete refurbishment that included the creation of new public spaces and venues, such as Indigo, The Marketplace, Coffee Ports and Squid & Anchor.
In addition to sailing for Celebrity and Marella, the ship also served the Chinese market under the SkySea Cruises banner.
