Scenic announced that it will represent Antarctica during ABC News’ live New Year’s Eve broadcast highlighting all seven continents.

According to a press release, the broadcast will mark the first time the network will ring in the New Year live from Antarctica.

The company said that the transmission will allow global television and digital audiences to see the Scenic Eclipse operating in one of the most remote regions on Earth.

Calling the ship “the world’s first discovery yacht,” Scenic said that the broadcast will offer a rare look at expedition cruising in Antarctica.

The TV show will include two live shots scheduled for 8 PM and 10 PM on December 31, 2025.

Highlighting “a day in the life” of navigating Antarctica, the first will be hosted by the ship’s Captain Radomir “Rado” Novosel.

Live from the ship’s Observation Deck, Novosel will also highlight expedition operations and the surrounding environment.

The second live shot will take place in the Scenic Lounge, featuring the ship’s Cruise Director, Kyle Featherbee, as spokesperson.

“One of the only live New Year’s Eve broadcasts originating from Antarctica, these moments offer viewers a rare look at expedition cruising from the most remote continent on Earth,” Scenic stated.

Launched in 2019, the Scenic Eclipse is currently offering a series of expedition cruises to Antarctica departing from Ushuaia, Argentina.

The vessel’s itineraries feature visits to a wide range of locations in the region, such as the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia, Snow Hill, and the Falkland Islands.

As part of its winter season, the Eclipse is also scheduled to sail to the Chilean fjords, Brazil, Uruguay and more.
