The Carnival Spirit had to delay its arrival in Mobile, scheduled for Sunday, due to heavy fog in the port area.
According to an update shared by Carnival Cruise Line’s Brand Ambassador John Heald, the delayed arrival affected the vessel’s embarkation plans.
With the port closed due to low visibility conditions, the 2001-built vessel was only able to dock four hours after the initially scheduled arrival time. Heald said that the ship made it to dock late in the morning.
“Once the ship arrives, we must allow debarking guests to leave the cruise terminal and parking facilities before embarking guests can be accommodated,” he added.
As a result, guests arriving for the Dec. 28, 2025, cruise were asked to delay their arrival at the Mobile Cruise Terminal by three hours.
“Thank you, I promise that the wonderful crew will be waiting to bring you all the fun you deserve,” Heald continued.
After repositioning to Mobile in late October, the Carnival Spirit is currently offering a series of cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas from Alabama.
Celebrating New Year’s Eve onboard, the Dec. 28, 2025, sailing will visit three destinations in the Bahamas.
The original itinerary of the eight-night cruise featured visits to Nassau, in addition to two of the company’s private destinations in the island country: Celebration Key and Princess Cays.
Initially set to depart from Mobile at 3:30 PM, the Carnival Spirit is now set to sail in the early hours of the night. It’s unclear if the change will have any impact on the planned itinerary.
In related news, Carnival also advised guests of potential delays for the Carnival Miracle, which was scheduled to dock in Tampa on Dec. 28, 2025.
While guests were warned of possible embarkation delays, the ship’s turnaround operations at the Florida homeport proceeded as scheduled.
