Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Splendor visited the Brazilian port of Rio Grande on Christmas Eve.
According to local authorities, the 2020-built ship brought over 600 passengers to the town, which is located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
The passengers were welcomed by a special reception that included cultural presentations, a local craft fair and support from tourist guides.
Portos RS, the port operator, stated that the call reinforces Rio Grande’s position as a port of call for ships sailing between Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina.
“The arrival of an international cruise ship generates tourist flow, economic activity, and visibility for Rio Grande,” said Portos RS President Cristiano Klinger.
“The port occupies a strategic position on the southern coast of Brazil,” he added.
According to Sandro Oliveira, director of international relations at Portos RS, the operation underscores the port’s positioning in the cruise business.
“Every international cruise ship that docks in Rio Grande increases the port’s visibility as a strategic point on maritime routes and contributes to positioning the state in international tourism, with integrated operations and the capacity to receive visitors from different countries,” he stated.
In South America for the winter, the Seven Seas Splendor is currently offering an 11-night cruise that departed from Rio de Janeiro on Dec. 11, 2025.
In addition to Rio Grande, the open-jaw cruise also features visits to other destinations in Brazil and Uruguay before ending in Buenos Aires on Dec. 28, 2025.
Other destinations visited included Santos, Ilha Grande, Ilhabela, Porto Belo, Punta del Este and Montevideo.
Continuing its South Americaseason, the Seven Seas Splendor is also scheduled to offer itineraries to Chile, Patagonia, the Amazon and more.
