StarCruises, in collaboration with Ronald McDonald House Charities Malaysia (RMHC Malaysia), has hosted nearly 200 paediatric patients and family members aboard the Star Voyager during a special port-stay event in Port Klang, the company said in a press release.
The guests were beneficiaries of Ronald McDonald House at Hospital Tunku Azizah in Kuala Lumpur, which provides “home away from home” accommodation for families with children undergoing medical treatment.
The event also marked the maiden voyage of the Star Voyager for the 2025/2026 season from Port Klang. The ship will operate from Dec. 19, 2025, to Feb. 2, 2026, on itineraries to Phuket, Singapore and Bintan.
The initiative forms part of StarCruises’ CSR programme, “Bringing Hope and Happiness Onboard and Beyond,” aimed at supporting communities in ports across Asia.
“On behalf of StarCruises, we are delighted to have the RMHC families with us aboard the Star Voyager,” said Michael Goh, president, StarDream Cruises. “As we begin our Port Klang deployment this season, it was a joy for our crew to spend the day with the children and their families, sharing smiles, laughter and memorable moments together.”
The programme included appearances by StarCruises and McDonald’s mascots, acrobatic and magic shows, and dance performances by the Star Voyager team. Selected families received complimentary cruise packages for future holidays aboard Star Voyager or sister ship Genting Dream, both sailing from Port Klang.
Families were served a Halal afternoon tea at The Lido restaurant, which features a dedicated Halal-certified section. Children also took part in balloon art, clown performances, craft activities and guided tours of the ship’s facilities.
“StarCruises and RMHC Malaysia hope that collaborations like this can serve as an example for other companies to support families facing challenges while accompanying their children undergoing long-term medical treatment,” said Mohd Nasri Mohd Nordin, general manager of RMHC Malaysia.
StarCruises said the initiative aligns with its broader efforts to use cruise operations as a platform for community support and social impact.
