The Porto Cruise Terminal in Portugal announced that it reached a new milestone in its cruise activity in October 2025.
According to a press release, the Port of Leixões welcomed over 215,000 guests in the first ten months of the year, a 30 percent increase compared to the same timeframe in 2024.
Local port authorities stated that the numbers reached an all-time high, surpassing the 200,000 annual passenger mark for the first time. The milestone comes seven years after the port reached the 100,000-guest mark.
Leixões registered further growth in November, with arrivals reaching 223,603 passengers. The number is said to represent an 18 percent increase year-over-year.
Between January and November 2025, the Porto Cruise Terminal welcomed 145 cruise calls, matching the previous year’s numbers.
The schedule was highlighted by 13 maiden calls, as well as 12 turnaround operations, five of which hosted over 5,000 guests.
More guests started and ended their cruises at the Porto Cruise Terminal, with turnaround numbers soaring from 2,121 in 2024 to 24,000 in 2025.
Offering cruises to Western Europe and Morocco, TUI’s Mein Schiff 4 was one of the ships sailing from Porto this year.
The Leixões Port Authority also said that the size of ships visiting the cruise terminal increased significantly, with vessels on average nine percent larger than in 2024.
Most of the passengers arriving hailed from the United Kingdom, followed closely by Germans and those from the United States.
The Porto Cruise Terminal is expected to close out the year with nearly 150 cruise calls and an annual record of around 225,000 guests welcomed.
“These numbers confirm the growing attractiveness of Porto and the North of Portugal region in the cruise sector and reinforce the confidence of the main international cruise lines in the Port of Leixões and in the Porto Cruise Terminal,” port authorities stated.
