Mercedes-Maybach recently revealed plans for a new invitation-only private members’ club centered around a superyacht.
The Maybach Ocean Club concept was developed in partnership with Splendid Sea and was revealed at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
The developers aim to create a membership program that will grant access not only to its new 30-cabin yacht but also to a curated community of like-minded individuals.
Splendid Sea and Mercedes are looking for 300 co-owners who would be entitled to spend four weeks onboard per year.
Created to serve as both a floating retreat and a social hub, the Beyond Horizons yacht was designed by the German-based Dölker + Voges, which worked alongside the Mercedes‑Maybach design team to develop the concept.
The 15,000-ton vessel will feature 30 identical, residential-style suites, each measuring 74 square meters and equipped with a private balcony.
The ship’s design highlighted by open decks spanning over 4,500 square meters, featuring an infinity pool and ample sun decks.
The Mercedes-Benz website described the project as an expansion of the Maybach brand heritage, which is said to have been involved in the maritime world since the 1920s.
“The brand drew on its visionary technical expertise to create engines that powered early automobiles, aircraft and boats,” the page says about that connection.
“Today, the Maybach Ocean Club expands on this heritage, merging tradition with progress: in suites designed with dedicated precision, in gastronomy that celebrates artistry and excellence and in wellness rituals created to harmonize body and spirit.”
In addition to building a new yacht, the project includes the construction of a 70-meter-long auxiliary ship that will carry water toys, limousine tenders and technical staff.
According to the project’s website, membership is available by invitation only, following what the company calls “a discerning and carefully curated selection process.”
Splendid Sea is said to be currently in talks with multiple European shipyards, with a build contract expected to be signed after early member commitments.
The company currently aims to launch the vessel ahead of an inaugural season in 2029. Planned deployment calls for the ship to sail to warm water destinations, including the Mediterranean during the summer and the Caribbean or the Indian Ocean during the winter.
