Two of Quark Expeditions’ vessels met in Antarctica in November, the company revealed in a social media update.

Offering expedition cruises in the region, the World Explorer and the Ultramarine made a double call at Damoy Point.

Operating its final season for the company, the World Explorer was offering Quark’s “Antarctic Explorer: Discovering the 7th Continent” itinerary.

The 11-night cruise sails roundtrip from Ushuaia and features transits of the Drake Passage, as well as visits to the Lemaire Channel, Anvers Island, South Shetland Islands, the Antarctic Peninsula and more.

Also sailing roundtrip from Ushuaia, the Ultramarine was offering the “Snow Hill to the Peninsula” itinerary.

In addition to crossing the Drake Passage, the 18-night itinerary is highlighted by cruising in the Weddell Sea and a visit to Snow Hill Island, which is home to a large Emperor Penguin colony.

The expedition also featured visits to destinations in the Eastern and Western Antarctic Peninsula, such as Paulet Island, Brown Bluff, Wilhelmina Bay and Enterprise Island.

As part of Quark’s 2025-26 season in the region, the World Explorer and the Ultramarine will continue to offer expeditions to Antarctica through mid-March.

In addition to the two vessels, a third ship is also sailing for Quark in the region this season: the Ocean Explorer.

After joining the company’s fleet in 2024, the 140-guest vessel is offering its second season in Antarctica in 2025-26.

Quark is also welcoming a new ship in late 2026, with the World Voyager replacing the World Explorer in Antarctica.

Currently in service for Atlas Ocean Voyages, the 200-passenger ship will sail for Quark seasonally as part of a charter contract.

Sold to Windstar Cruises in 2024, the World Explorer will transition to the luxury market in late 2026 after a major refurbishment.
