Ambassador Cruise Line and ORCA have announced that the #AmbassadorForWhales fundraising initiative has raised £18,426 in support of the charity’s work protecting whales, dolphins and porpoises.

The initiative ran from October 27 to November 12.

Chief Executive Officer of Ambassador Cruise Line, Christian Verhounig, said: “Our continued partnership with ORCA highlights our shared commitment to sustainability, education and the preservation of the oceans we sail in.”

“We are extremely grateful for the support shown throughout #AmbassadorForWhales. The result demonstrates the positive response from our guests and colleagues and reinforces the value of our partnership with ORCA,” added Verhounig.

“As a responsible cruise line, it is our duty to help protect the incredible wildlife that calls the world’s oceans home while raising awareness among our guests and crew about the importance of protecting marine life. These funds will help the charity continue its important research, conservation and education work as they look to protect whales, dolphins and porpoises for generations to come.”

Steve Jones, director of fundraising and operations at ORCA, said: “#AmbassadorForWhales has been a fantastic success and we are delighted with the support shown throughout the campaign. Every donation will have a real impact at a crucial time for whales and dolphins, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed.”

“Ambassador’s commitment to matching donations means that every pound will go twice as far, helping to strengthen our research, education and monitoring programmes,” added Jones.

“Our long-standing partnership allows us to reach thousands of guests each year, and we are proud to continue this important work together with Ambassador.”

The company said in a press release that £9,213 was raised for the marine conservation charity, which Ambassador then matched to double the impact of every contribution received during the two-week fundraising campaign.

Donations were made online and through activity onboard the Ambience during the 16-night “ORCA CEO Sailing to the Land of the Northern Lights & Scotland”, which departed London Tilbury on October 27.

The sailing featured Verhounig and ORCA CEO Sally Hamilton, who hosted sessions and Q&As exploring their shared work.

The CEO Sailing forms part of a broader program of 21 dedicated ORCA itineraries across the 2025-26 season.

Ambassador added that its collaboration with ORCA also includes the Anti-Whaling Campaign.
