Adventure Canada has announced that as part of its 2027 expedition line-up aboard the Ocean Nova, it is introducing “High Arctic Expedition: Where Art Meets Land,” a Group of Seven-inspired voyage.

Marking the 100th anniversary of A.Y. Jackson’s and Dr. Frederick Banting’s Arctic journey aboard the SS Beothic, the itinerary explores the spirit of some of Canada’s artists and the landscapes that influenced their work, as well as Canadian art and identity.

The company said in a press release that its new expedition sails through some of the same places that once stirred Jackson, Banting and Harris a century ago.

Traveling aboard the Ocean Nova from August 31 to September 14, 2027, guests will visit Beechey Island, Devon Island, Greenland’s fjords and coastal towns.

Onboard, John Geoghegan, curator of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, which is the steward of the Group of Seven’s legacy, will lead illustrated talks, field observations and discussions connecting art, culture and place.

“Working together with Adventure Canada on this extraordinary expedition offers a rare opportunity to see the landscapes that inspired the Group of Seven not just as subjects of art, but as living places of culture, memory and meaning,” said Geoghegan.

Over the course of 15 days, guests will travel from Qausuittuq (Resolute), Nunavut, to Nuuk, Greenland, and along the way meet with Inuit artists and community members.

Trip highlights include:

• Sailing through the landscapes that shaped the Group of Seven’s Arctic vision
• Walking the shores of Beechey Island
• Exploring Tallurutiup Imanga, a marine sanctuary
• Visiting Devon Island, the world’s largest uninhabited island
• Connecting with Inuit communities in Aujuittuq (Grise Fjord) and Qaanaaq
• Wandering through Alexandria Fjord, a hidden Arctic garden, and
• Concluding in the capital city of Nuuk, a living gallery of Inuit art and contemporary expression.
