The former Costa Magica has been sold to Tianjin Oriental International Cruises, and is now heading to China for its new operator.

The ship left Greece on Nov. 19 under the name Vision, and is expected to be renamed Ideal ahead of a summer deployment out of Tianjin, where it sail alongside the Dream.

According to the cruise line, the 2004-built ship, which hasn’t sailed since prior to the pandemic, will undergo a comprehensive upgrade.

Seajets bought the ship coming out of the pandemic from Costa in 2023.

Following the acquisition of the ship, Seajets chartered the vessel in 2024 for a short period to a government entity to provide additional housing for a summit in Italy.

The Greek ferry operator also launched Neonyx Cruises and renamed the ship Mykons Magic, with the intent to sail short cruises in Greece starting in summer 2024, but the new company never got off the ground.

After buying a number of cruise ships during the pandemic, Seajets has three vessels left in its laid up fleet: the former Majesty of the Seas from Royal Caribbean, P&O’s former Oceana and the former Veendam.
