Samsung Electronics has supplied over 6,000 TVs and displays to Royal Caribbean International’s Star of the Seas.

According to a press release, the hospitality TVs and Smart Signage displays are being used in guest cabins, crew quarters and public areas, including lounges and theaters.

The tech company said that the collaboration marks the latest milestone in a partnership that has seen Samsung supplying displays for Royal Caribbean’s fleet for over 21 years.

As the second ship in Royal Caribbean’s Icon-class series, the Star of the Seas entered service in Port Canaveral last August.

“What we’ve achieved with Royal Caribbean over the past 20 years is a testament to our shared commitment to innovation and delivering world-class experiences to guests,” said Hoon Chung, executive vice president of the visual display business at Samsung Electronics.

“As demand for richer entertainment experiences rises, we’re proud to deliver our most dynamic commercial displays to the Star of the Seas and look forward to expanding our collaboration in the years ahead,” he added.

Since 2004, Samsung has supplied more than 200,000 hospitality TVs and Smart Signage displays across 28 ships in Royal Caribbean’s fleet.

The number includes over 6,000 displays for the Icon of the Seas, the first Icon-class ship, which entered service in early 2024.

Samsung said that the partnership is backed by 17 consecutive years as the global leader in the commercial display market.

For the Star of the Seas, Samsung provided its Crystal UHD Hospitality TVs, which were installed in guest cabins.

The company said that these TVs offer Dynamic Crystal Color technology, capable of displaying over one billion colors.

Each in-room TV also serves as a central information hub that shares a welcome message personalized for each guest, daily activity schedules, destination information and weather and emergency updates, while also offering the ability to revisit onboard programs and announcements at the user’s convenience.

The ultra-slim UHD Smart Signage QMC series is also featured onboard, providing high-resolution content in public areas while maximizing space efficiency.

The company recently introduced a new hospitality TV model that was developed for compact spaces, such as crew cabins, hospitals and hotel rooms.

According to Samsung, the HF8000F comes with a 24-inch display and provides a streamlined option compatible with remote display management and other technologies.
