Hapag-Lloyd Cruises made a double call to Lisbon earlier this month with the Europa 2 and the Europa.
Calling it a “special and rare moment,” the company celebrated the ship meeting on its social media profiles.
According to Hapag-Lloyd, the double call offered guests a unique opportunity for photos, in addition to an “emotional and unforgettable moment.”
The Europa 2 arrived at the Lisbon Cruise Terminal to kick off an 11-night cruise to the Canary Islands and Morocco.
Part of the ship’s repositioning voyage to the Caribbean and North America, the open-jaw cruise started with an overnight stay.
After meeting with its sister ship, the 2013-built vessel sailed to seven destinations in the region, such as Agadir, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, La Gomera and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The Europa visited Lisbon as part of a 16-night cruise that departed from the German port of Hamburg in late October.
Sailing to Tenerife, the open-jaw itinerary included an overnight call in the city, in addition to visits to destinations in Belgium, the United Kingdom, France, Spain and Morocco.
After concluding its 11-night cruise to the Canaries, the Europa 2 embarked on a trans-Atlantic voyage to Willemstad, Curaçao.
The 2013-built vessel is set to spend most of the 2025-26 winter season sailing to destinations in North America, the Caribbean and Bermuda.
The Europa is heading south as part of a repositioning voyage that sails around Africa. Starting in December, the 1999-built vessel offers itineraries to the Indian Ocean, Madagascar, the Seychelles and more.
In related news, Hapag-Lloyd is planning to offer bilingual cruises on all the ships of its fleet starting in early 2026.
As part of the initiative, all sailings onboard the company’s five vessels will be conducted in both German and English.
Two of the brand’s ships currently offer support for English speakers: the Europa 2 and the Hanseatic Inspiration.
