Carnival Cruise Line is stepping up to support Jamaica’s recovery efforts following Hurricane Melissa.

In addition to donating goods and funds to the island country, the company is scheduling visits to ports that are already able to welcome guests back.

“As we live our everyday lives, it’s easy to forget what happened in the past. That’s part of life, but we must not forget what Melissa did to Jamaica,” Heald said in an update.

Considered one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded in the region, the storm made landfall in Jamaica on Oct. 28, 2025, causing a significant impact in the country’s infrastructure and communities.

“We are still unable to go to Montego Bay. They are very much in a cleanup process and getting the infrastructure back together again,” Heald continued. He said that ships scheduled to go to Montego Bay in the near future will be rerouted to other destinations.

“We are going to do our best to divert you to Ocho Rios, which is open and ready and already welcoming our ships,” he added.

The Carnival Sunrise, the Carnival Horizon, and the Carnival Pride are among the ships that visited the port following Melissa.

“We thank you once again for going to Ocho Rios, getting off the ship, and spending perhaps a few dollars whether it’s on an excursion from the ship or doing some shopping,” Heald said in a video addressed to Carnival’s guests.

“Your money, of course, will really help them get back on their feet again. We are so glad that we can dock our ships in Ocho Rios,” he added.

“Keep thinking of the people of Jamaica; they have been through hell and back, and we are happy to be doing our little bit to help.”

In addition to bringing its ships back to Jamaica, Carnival delivered relief supplies to the country’s communities earlier this month.

Carnival Corporation, in partnership with the Miami HEAT and the Micky & Madeleine Arison Family Foundation, also donated $1 million to Direct Relief to support recovery efforts.
