The Costa Diadema and the MSC Seaview recently arrived at the Brazilian port of Belém to serve as floating hotels for the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP 30).

The two cruise ships were chartered by the Brazilian government in an effort to increase Belém’s accommodation capacity.

After departing from Europe in late October, the Diadema and the Seaview docked at the new Outeiro Cruise Terminal on Nov. 3, 2025.

The new cruise port, which opened earlier this month, was built for the event using part of the infrastructure of a former cargo dock.

According to the Brazil’s government, the terminal offers a 700-meter-long pier, in addition to a dedicated reception area for guests and crew members.

Adding roughly 4,000 rooms to Belém’s hotel capacity, the Costa and MSC ships are set to remain docked in Outeiro for approximately 20 days.

“These ships offer safety and availability of accommodation for those coming to participate in the conference, whether to work or just attend the event,” said the Chief of Staff to the President of Brazil Rui Costa.

The new cruise port was built in just five months.

Belém’s new cruise terminal was developed by Companhia Docas do Pará (CDP).

“We delivered a port ready to receive cruise ships. Welcoming these two vessels marks a historic moment for the State of Pará and for the people of Pará,” said Jardel Silva, president, CDP.

During COP30, the Outeiro Cruise Terminal will offer a reception team that includes bilingual volunteers, in addition to enhanced signage, reference maps and a 24-hour transfer service.

Guests staying on the ships will take advantage of free transportation to Belém’s airport and event venues, as well as other locations.
