Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ Borealis recently welcomed guests back in the United Kingdom after undergoing a series of upgrades in drydock.

According to a press release, the 1,353-guest vessel welcomed back passengers onboard on November 7, 2025.

The Borealis underwent a two-week scheduled maintenance program at the Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam (DSR) starting on Oct. 21, 2025.

Fred. Olsen said that, in addition to technical upgrades, the vessel underwent a “comprehensive rejuvenation” of both its interior and exterior areas.

The investment focused on guest-centric enhancements designed to elevate the onboard experience, the company added.

Public areas such as The Observatory and The View have been refreshed, bringing a brighter and more inviting feel.

The onboard Atlantis Spa has also been updated, with upgraded salon equipment, a new pedicure chair and a new jacuzzi in the Thermal Suite.

In addition, new freshwater piping systems have been fitted in selected guest corridors as part of the upgrade work.

Other changes included the transformation of the Colours & Tastes specialty restaurant, which now offers premium interior design showcasing its art collection.

From 2026, guests can also enjoy a new rotating themed menu featuring Gourmet Grill, Traditional Italian and Asian-fusion cuisine.

Guests sailing on the Borealis this year will be among the first to enjoy Fresco, a new open-air lounging venue located on Deck 8 aft, set to be introduced as part of the ship’s enhancements.

Fred. Olsen said that the restaurant was designed for relaxation and panoramic views, featuring a pediluvio foot spa experience and a spotlight stage for live performances.

Starting February 2026, guests can also savor Mediterranean-inspired light bites in the scenic eatery.
