SmartSea, powered by SITA, has announced the introduction of two new digital solutions designed to modernize passenger and crew management across the cruise industry.

The FacePod mobility platform and AI-powered HSE system bring aviation technology and data intelligence to the maritime environment, improving welfare, efficiency and safety offshore and onshore.

In addition, SmartSea’s AI-powered HSE platform helps operators identify and manage risks in real time. It combines observations, digital risk assessments and automated image analysis to detect hazards early and support safer operations.

The system centralizes compliance, reporting and safety processes, thereby allowing crew to focus on guest service and operational excellence, the company said in a press release.

“These platforms give cruise operators the same technological edge that has transformed aviation,” said Kris Vedat, CEO of SmartSea.

“FacePod delivers a seamless, biometric-based passenger and crew journey, efficient, secure and built around the individual. Combined with our predictive HSE technology, cruise operators can enhance safety, reduce bottlenecks and elevate the onboard experience,” added Vedat.

Inspired by SITA’s SmartPath technology, FacePod enables secure, biometrically verified processing from the terminal to the ship. The company said that this means faster embarkation, fewer queues and smoother logistics both onshore and offshore for cruise companies.

Passengers benefit from a contactless journey that replaces manual checks with one digital identity, reducing waiting times and paperwork while maintaining high security standards.

According to the press release, the new products form part of SmartSea Vision, a new platform that is designed to connect people, data, operations and safety.
